Kips Bay West Palm Beach with Alexandra Naranjo

Last January Alexandra Naranjo approached me with the exciting news that she was selected to design a space for the Kips Bay West Palm Beach Show Home. For those of you who are not familiar with it, the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club creates show homes where Designers like Alexandra get assigned one room. Through sponsorships and their own funds they design a space that is completely unique with no client brief, it's pure creative freedom! They now have show homes in three cities across the US including West Palm Beach, New York and Dallas each year raising money for after school and enrichment programs.

The main feature and absolute show stopper to this bathroom was the De Gournay wallpaper Alexandra chose. It was applied in the shower with a protective glass installed over it which is so unique. To compliment the forest wallpaper she chose a Phillip Jeffries blue ombre wallpaper which beautifully framed the ‘artwork’ without being too flat. All the plumbing fixtures from Kohler were in an antique brass finish with another feature being their custom coloured bathtub in indigo.

Aptly named ‘Interlude in Indigo’ this whimsical bathroom gives you the most calming and unique experience!

Since this project was being installed in West Palm Beach and in the midst of an Ontario lockdown the drawings that were sent to the contractor on site had to be extremely detailed and thorough. Below is an example of some of the elevations that went along with the drawing package outlining materials, plumbing locations and social instructions.

The photographs of the finished space can be found on Alexandra’s website here, or you can check out all of the spaces from the Kips Bay West Palm Beach 2021 tour here. Let us know which rooms are your favourite!!
