Welcome to the newly redesigned MM Designs website, with our new shop and blog. We are excited to be growing and this first blog post gives a heads-up of what’s new and where we’re heading.
Our Website
Our goal is to have the MM Designs website be a primary resource for those looking to improve their skills in SketchUp and AutoCad, and for designers wanting to improve their presentations with renderings and drawings.
Our Blog
When Melissa started MM Designs in 2012 there were few resources available to build CAD program skills that were interior design specific. After working with designers for over ten years and teaching Computer Assisted Drafting and Design at Conestoga College, Melissa is ready to bring her passion to a virtual audience. MM Designs hopes their blog will inspire new and experienced designers and be a go-to resource for all things interior design with an emphasis on visual presentation through SketchUp, AutoCAD and Adobe programs. Here’s what’s in the works:
Education
A series of short videos demonstrating some of our most used tools and tricks using SketchUp and Auto CAD.
Inspiration
We love finding new talent on Instagram and we also love sharing, so we will be putting together our favourite finds to inspire you, our fellow designers.
Business
Melissa is an avid reader of books and blogs, not only about the design world, but also about starting and running a small business and ways to foster creativity, empathy and positivity in the workplace. She is eager to share her experiences here at MM Design and also who she looks to for great business advice. We want to engage with and inspire small interior design firms (and individuals!) to thrive.
Design
We can’t show every project we work on but will be sure to share those we can. We work with so many amazing designers and we’re excited to show them off.
From the ground up
Melissa and her partner Luke are embarking on an exciting journey designing and building their dream home in West Grey, Ontario. She’s excited to share all the highs and lows of this adventure and will be blogging about it all the way. She’ll be posting the floor plans, renderings, progress pictures and, of course, the final build. Who doesn’t love following a project from beginning to end?
Our Shop
We’re excited to introduce our shop for SketchUp components! Anyone who uses SketchUp knows how hard it is to find quality components, especially accessories. We have created current, beautiful components that you can purchase and include in your models to add a polished, professional look.
We’ll be introducing more components every season, so be sure to keep checking in for new items!
Courses-Coming soon!
MM Designs will soon be offering online courses in SketchUp and AutoCad. We will start by launching a free beginners SketchUp course in early 2022. Our goal is to have everyone familiar with the SketchUp basics before releasing other courses that will dive deeper into how we use SketchUp here at MM designs. We’re looking forward to sharing everything we have learned over the years so that you can confidently take that next step in enhancing your presentations.
